Eight Books was founded by Damian Jaques and Mark Fletcher to publish original and innovative books on design. With over 30 years combined experience in publishing they have a specialist knowledge of the commissioning, designing, editing, and production of illustrated books for an international market. Eight books work with leading photographers and design writers to publish books on all forms of design - architectural, fashion, product, interior, graphic, furniture, garden, food and now distinctive illustrated children's titles.
Mark Fletcher has worked as an editor for many of Britain's leading illustrated art book publishers, including Phaidon Press, Scala Publications, Merrell Publishers and Mitchell Beazley. During his time as commissioning editor at Mitchell Beazley he was responsible for producing a number of award-winning books such as The New London Garden (Garden Writers’ Guild Inspirational Gardening Book of the Year 2000) and Football Days: Classic Football Photographs (Illustrated Sports Book of the Year 2004). As a freelance commissioning editor he has worked with Merrell Publishers, Lund Humphries, Ivy Press, Chrysalis Books, Damiani Editore and Octopus Publishing. Since 2000 he has been the UK architectural correspondent for the Italian design and architecture magazine, Interni.
Damian Jaques, as well as running a successful design studio, has designed books for Frances Lincoln, Guinness Publishing, Mitchell Beazley and Alfred David Editions. Books include A Century of Graphic Design written by Jeremy Aynsley, Mlinaric on Decorating and Guinness Amazing Future as well as many smaller-scale publications. He was a co-founder and designer of Coil, Journal of the Moving Image and designer of Mute Magazine from 1997 to 2005. His work has been published in Typography Now 2 – Implosion (Booth-Clibborn Editions), Mapping (Rotovision) and magCulture: new magazine design (Laurence King). He is also an Associate Lecturer at Chelsea School of Art in London, UK. | ||||||||||||
